Have lorry, will travel so I took both the ‘boys’ over to Richards farm in November for a training weekend all of our own. Colette and Kyle joined us too; many hands make light work and all that, especially when some are experienced horsemen. It was an opportunity to get together and to use Richards round pen to get my horses going as a pair. I know they have been together for a while but I’ve always used them singly up until now and have wanted for several months to put them together to work as a pair. Richard has this great natural horsemanship technique for putting a pair together for the first time and I was keen to use it for my boys. Kipp has worked in a pair before but not Sol. You can see from the photos that the horses are tied carefully in together and then turned loose in the round pen whilst they get used to being side by side. If you know anything about these techniques then you will know that this is a join-up opportunity for both you and your horses. For us it worked really well but I won’t give you all the details, you’ll have to book a course with Richard for those. Suffice to say though that by the end of the weekend the boys were listening and working pretty well together pulling a large tractor tyre. I am over the moon and am looking forward now to building on the strong start we all made together. Thanks guys, brilliant.
