Whitelands Wood

October saw Kipp and I undertake our first contract together, assisted by Daniel Brown. Daniel came and worked with us offering valuable support where needed. I was keen to make this first contract a positive experience for Kipp, hoping to encourage good practise for the future. In this privately owned wood we worked for a week extracting Western Red Cedar that was being cleared to open up the canopy around some ancient Yews. The owner has received funding for the next 4 years for this project from the Forestry Commission and we hope to continue working with him on this site. It is a steep site on chalk and although sometimes a little slippery the owner was delighted with how little disturbance there was.
